Alexandre Yersin Museum belongs to the second floor of a house on the campus of Nha Trang Pasteur Institute with an area of about 100m2. Nowadays, Alexandre Yersin Museum is keeping and preserving almost all of Yersin’s items and objects used to work, studying at his time.
Museum Alexandre Yersin is displaying about 1,200 books and more than 50 items of Dr. Alexandre Yersin about fields such as medicine, astronomy and geography that he used during his research. Back in history to learn about Alexandre Yersin
Alexandre Émile Jean Yersin was born on September 22, 1863 at Aubonne, Switzerland and died on March 1, 1943 in Nha Trang. He is known as both a medical doctor and a bacteriologist and a famous explorer in the world.
He was the one who discovered bacillus causing plague and was the founder of Dong Duong medical school now belonging to Ha Noi Medical University. His life has undergone many changes and movements, living, studying and working in many different countries. The place where he stayed for the longest time, devoted his love and work to Nha Trang, Viet Nam.
Alexandre Yersin lives in a wooden house in Xom Con. Here, he opened a private clinic and treatment for poor people for free. Not only that, he was also one of the founders of the foundation of Nha Trang Pasteur Institute. His life was associated with Nha Trang until his death in 1943.
Alexandre Yersin statue is now placed seriously on the coast of Nha Trang.
